Residential solar power systems — what are they? These are power systems built to supply electricity to homes by converting solar into electric power. Against the backdrop of a slowing economy and rising fuel prices, the pressures of going to alternative energy resources such as solar power are escalating. This is one primary reason why solar power systems for home are becoming popular these days. Solar energy is produced using light and heat from the sun. A range of technologies have been, and are being, developed to capture this freely available power source. Generating energy from solar power plants rather than individual panels as are used for residences is particularly attractive in “sunbelt” areas including the Mediterranean, the Gulf, northern Africa, the US Southwest, Mexico, Australia and Asia. The sun is an endless reservoir of power. For a long time, we have neglected this resource. Solar panels used to be an expensive commodity which is used only by large organizations. However, there are now cheaper ways to create residential solar power systems. This coupled with the fact that they are practically maintenance-free, using such a system to run your home becomes an attractive option. ERX Corp PPA

Photovoltaic cells produce electricity when they are exposed to light. They usually consist of panels. The panels contain two layers of different materials. When light hits these two layers, one of the layers becomes positively charged, and the other becomes negatively charged and they create an electric current. The amount of electricity generated by a solar power cell depends on several factors. We need to appreciate that we have been placed in our part of the world for a purpose and not by some accident. Our placement in an environment where the sun shines 12 hours a day is a great thing. While we find ourselves in abundant sunshine and heat, others live in cold areas with permanent frost. In sunny Ghana, where daily sunshine is predictable, solar power should not be a luxury or a status symbol. Solar energy is driven by photovoltaic cells, and these are progressively getting less expensive and more advanced. Solar energy power can be used for electricity, heating, and making hot water. Solar energy produces no pollution, as its input comes completely from the sun’s rays. Besides energy limited batteries not many other solutions to the power supply problem have been shown so far. In [3] a combination of solar power and energy from vibrations is used to scavenge energy from the environment which is stored in small capacitors. In our proposal we concentrate on solar energy alone and show solutions to power a 100-200 µW realized sensor node (Tinymote), where a block diagram is shown in Figure 1. In the area of solar energy, annual production is increasing each year. Modern production plants for photovoltaics must be set up to produce extremely high-quality silicon. Manufacturers such as Evergreen (USA) or Solar World AG (Germany) rely on the flexibility and high level of integration of B&R technology. http://raptr.com/lynnstephens1212, http://www.toonjet.com/profile.php?user=lynnstephens1212, http://www.thepoint.com/users/lynnstephens1212/profile,
